02 · Tear-out and re-pour
Out, based, and back down.
When an existing drive, walk or slab is being replaced, the work runs as one continuous job rather than as separate visits: the old concrete comes out, it is hauled away, the ground underneath is opened up and re-graded, and the new concrete goes back down onto a base that has actually been prepared.
That continuity is the point. A slab poured onto whatever was left after a tear-out will settle the same way the old one did, and the part of the job that determines how long the new concrete lasts is entirely underneath it and invisible the moment it is finished.
We will give you the schedule for your job when it is booked, including how long the drive is out of use. It depends on the size of the work and on what we find when the old slab comes up.

03 · Options and finishes
The part homeowners do not know they can ask for.
The same slab, finished several different ways, is the cheapest big change available on most projects.
Concrete does not have to look like concrete. Color can run through the mix rather than sit on it, texture can be stamped in while the surface is still green, and staining can be applied after it has cured. Stamped and decorative work covers slate, ashlar, brick, paver, stone and wood patterns; overlays put those same finishes onto concrete you already have.
Worth knowing before you choose: the decorative decision is much cheaper to make before the pour than after it. Adding pattern and color to a slab being poured anyway costs less than resurfacing one later does — so if you are on the fence, be on the fence now rather than in two years.

What homeowners actually ask before booking.
How long will my driveway be out of use?
It depends on the size of the job and on what we find when the old slab comes up. You get the schedule for your own job when it is booked rather than a general figure, and we would rather tell you a real date than an optimistic one.
Do I need to be home while the work happens?
Not usually, though it helps to walk the job with us before it starts — particularly the route machines will take in and out, which is the thing most likely to affect a lawn.
Can you match the concrete you pour to what is already there?
Closely, rarely exactly. New concrete cures lighter and then darkens, and existing concrete has weathered for years. Where matching matters, a decorative finish across both is usually a better answer than trying to match plain gray to plain gray.
Is decorative concrete more expensive to maintain?
It benefits more from being cleaned and sealed, because sealing protects color and pattern as well as the concrete. That is maintenance a plain broom finish can get away without for longer.
Can you pour a hot tub pad?
Yes. It is a small job with an unusually concentrated load, so the base under it matters more than the size suggests — that is the part we spend the time on.
What is the most common residential job you do?
