How much does stamped concrete cost per square foot?
Published 2026 figures put installed stamped concrete at roughly $8 to $22 per square foot nationally. Pattern and color complexity decide where a job lands in that band, and the concrete itself is the smallest part of the difference.
These are published national figures, not our prices. Every number on this page is attributed to the publisher it came from. Concrete is priced per site: the sub-grade, the access and the tie-ins move the number, and none of them show in a national average. Use the ranges to plan, then have someone stand on the ground and give you a written figure.

Stamped concrete exists because of one comparison. It gives the look of slate, flagstone or brick for less than the real material installed, and sits above plain concrete. That comparison is true on installed cost. It says nothing about how the surfaces behave over twenty years, which is a separate question we have written a guide about that concedes real advantages to pavers.
Two reputable publishers landing on different bands for the same product is worth noticing. It does not mean one is wrong. It means the number is genuinely variable, and the next section is about what makes it move.
Basic, mid-range and premium: what each tier includes
Two stamped patios of identical size can sit at opposite ends of the published band, and it is almost never the concrete that differs. It is how much hand work the crew is doing against the clock the concrete sets on.

A large simple rectangle moves the other way. Fixed costs like mobilization, forms and the pump spread over more feet, and the stamping rhythm never has to stop for an edge. Published guidance puts a premium of 15 to 25 percent per square foot on jobs under about 200 square feet for exactly that reason.
Stamped concrete cost by project: patio, driveway, pool deck, walkway
The same finish behaves differently depending on what it is on. Patios are the most forgiving surface to stamp well. Driveways carry vehicles and have to fall correctly for water. Pool decks are a grip decision before they are a color decision.

Patios
Angi reports an average stamped concrete project of $5,314, with most homeowners spending between $2,961 and $7,815. Patios are usually flat, contained and not carrying vehicles, which is why they are where stamped work looks its best for the money.
Driveways
A drive is harder work than a patio of the same area. It is bigger, it has to fall correctly for water, and it has a tie-in at the road that has to be right. On a state road that tie-in is a permit question before it is a concrete one.
Pool decks
A pool surround is the one place where the finish decision is not purely visual. Grip and how the surface behaves underfoot in sun matter more here than anywhere else on a property. Our pool deck page covers that side of it.
Walkways
Published figures put stamped walkways at $10 to $14 per square foot, sometimes more with detailing, which reflects how much of a narrow surface is edge.
The running cost: sealing every two to three years
Decorative concrete has an ongoing cost that plain concrete largely does not, and it is usually left out of the comparison.
- Published guidance: reseal every two to three years at $200 to $600 per treatment. Fold that into any comparison against a material that does not need it.
- Around Lake Norman the interval is shorter, not longer. Red clay staining and shallow freeze-thaw cycling work on a sealer harder than the national guidance implies. Our cleaning and sealing page explains why.
- The product decides the schedule. We would rather tell you the interval for the sealer actually on your slab than repeat a general figure.

Angi puts stamped concrete at $9 to $22 per square foot and HomeGuide at $8 to $19. Neither is wrong; they are averaging different jobs. Here is how to make two contractors' numbers comparable.
- Check what the base isThe single biggest difference between a slab that lasts and one that does not is under it, and it is invisible the moment the work is finished. A quote that specifies what happens to the sub-grade is telling you something a quote that only names a pattern is not.
- Check whether removal is includedPublished figures put the removal premium at roughly $1 to $6 per square foot on top of the pour, so a quote that quietly assumes you are pouring onto bare ground will look cheaper than one that is not.
- Check the color specificationIntegral color runs through the mix; a colored release or a topical stain sits at the surface. They photograph identically on day one and behave differently after a decade of wear, and they are not the same price.
- Check joint layoutConcrete cracks. Control joints decide where. On a stamped surface those joints have to be planned against the pattern rather than cut wherever is convenient, and whether somebody has thought about that is visible in the finished work for as long as it exists.
- Check the sealerIt is the ongoing cost, and which product goes on decides both how the surface looks and how often you will be paying to redo it.
